Sunday Update

Today is Sunday, March 30! Where did March go? Is it really almost April? How did that happen?
Today was an exciting day. At church they had the first annual Breakin' Bread competition. Will was on Team Nutmeg with Roseanne and Linda. He had so much fun! He chopped and sliced like a pro. They made stromboli and a berry dessert. They came in 2nd place. Will was one of the youngest contestants so he won his own apron! He really enjoyed it and everyone thought he was a big help. I guess this means I can give him more kitchen duty!
It was a beautiful day today- the sun was shining, it was pretty warm. Colby and I took advantage of the nice weather. First we cleaned out that van (that's quite a job!) and then we weeded the plants in front of the house. It was very exciting to see all the new flowers coming up! The daffodills, the tulips, and all the other things I don't remember! It will be nice to see the flowers, then we know it's really spring!
Colby also took some time to blow bubbles. He was so cute! We haven't really played with bubbles in a while, but the Easter Bunny put some in their baskets so Colby had a new
bottle. He thought they were great! I loved watching his face when the bubbles got bigger and bigger. Once he caught a "double" and he thought that was the greatest! It's so nice to see him outside and I especially love when he comes back in, and I get to smell that "outdoors" smell on him!!
Too bad he'll have to take a bath in a little while and lose the smell...
I thought it would be fun to include a picture that was just taken on Friday, March 28! It snowed quite a bit that morning, and the kids got to go outside and do some sledding! I took this photo of them in front of the pond, I just love the way the trees look in the background with the snow all over the branches.

I hope that's the last of the snow though and the warm weather comes soon!!
Yesterday Will had two bowling sessions- he had his regular Saturday morning, but it was a "Beat the Coach" day... I got to be one of the coaches and I actually beat him! But technically he gets a huge handicap so it doesn't matter!
He also was in a tournament out in Scotia. He bowled great, but of course there's a lot of competition. I'm not even sure when we would hear if he moved on....?
And I just have to say-- thank goodness for health insurance, and copays!! We had a minor "situation" tonight... sent Art to pick up my prescription which had run out... and he forgot. And the pharmacy was closed by the time we realized it. So I called another pharmacy, and they were able to access the script and fill it... but first they said it would have to be a cash only sale... and it was $410! For 12 tablets!! Oy! But then they agreed to just take the copay ($10) and bill the insurance tomorrow, after they tell the first pharmacy to cancel it. What a headache!! But I need that Zofran or who knows how sick I'll be???
Enjoy the end of March 2008!

Will is 9 now!

It is so hard to believe that my little boy turned 9 yesterday! Where did the time go? I can remember so vividly the day he was born, when he was a baby, the good and bad times over the years... how did 9 years go by so fast?
What an interesting boy Will is. He loves building, anything he can make... legos, blocks, science kits, electronics. He also loves video games. This year for his birthday all he wanted was an electric guitar, so that's what he got! He was so happy with it!!

Easter at our house!

Coloring Easter Eggs was so much fun this year! Samantha was really creative and happily coloring her eggs and writing on them with a white crayon. Will was more serious about it... he took a long time to get his eggs "just right". And Colby, he was funny! You would have thought he'd never colored eggs before... was very afraid of dropping eggs so he kept asking Daddy to help him... and he was amazed when they changed colors!
The Easter Bunny brought the kids baskets and hid some eggs. Unfortunately, Samantha also helped hide some eggs. She was like, "Mom, can I help you hide the eggs? Please?" and even thought I tried to play the game she was like, "I know the truth..." and well, she was pretty cool about being excited to hide them and being excited when the boys searched for them!
The boys got haircuts on Saturday...now Will has a well-defined mohawk (that he puts hair cement in so it is solid) and Colby has a "army man cut" that he "hates". I kinda miss the long hair too....

On Easter morning we went to church and then to Aunt Terry's, where we took the picture of the cousins. We got to eat the Paska bread and kielbasa with boiled eggs. We also had a ham dinner here at home, with Grandpa Bill.
Unfortunately, this Baby has not let up on me yet. I'm still getting sick at least once a day. It's usually in the afternoon/early evening, preceded by a few hours of nausea. That's why I spent most of Easter in bed. It really stinks. I need it to go away soon because it is getting really hard to eat. It's not easy when you think it's just going to come back up.
I'm reading a book called "Packaging Girlhood" and let me tell you, it is an eye-opener. I'm happy to report that I've already done a lot of the things the book recommends with regard to Samantha... but it makes me very nervous about the coming years and all the horrible things that are marketed to "tweens" and teens. So far she's not into any of that, but it may be only a matter of time. Also, it makes me a bit nervous if this baby is a girl.... now that I see all the ways toys and sex and boyfriends are marketed to even the youngest girls, it makes me sad and sick.
Hard to believe but tomorrow is Will's 9th birthday! I cannot wait to give him his present! It's the "only thing" he wanted... but you'll have to wait to see what it is!

Update

They're baaaaack!! On March 12 the geese officially came back to our pond. There were lots of them, so I'm not sure who's here to stay and who's just stopping through. But oh! the noise! And just seeing them everywhere brought back bad memories of goose poop.
I got to spend some time with my nieces Braelyn and Nellie that day too! They are getting so big. Especially Braelyn, she's quite a little stinker!
I went to the doctor on the 14th and it went well. I'm now 11 weeks along. I got to hear the baby's heartbeat- 164. And since all is well I don't have to go back for another 4 weeks!! Let's hope all stays well!
Basketball is officially over, and the next "season" will be begin soon. Samantha is once again playing softball and Colby has decided to try baseball.
Will had a bowling tournament for Valentine's Day and he came in second place! He got a trophy today! He also bowled his HIGHEST game ever today-- 134!! Amazing! He got lots of strikes and spares :)
The weather is starting to get warmer... we're excited to be able to finish the siding and maybe even start on some other projects!! Come on Spring!!!

Dream

I had the weirdest, most vivid, dream last night.
We were here at home, and my Grandfather stopped by. (He has been dead since 2002). We invited him into the house, and all of a sudden my Grandmother appeared in the kitchen (she has been dead since 1999), talking to me. She was just standing there talking. Which was odd because my Grandmother had Multiple Sclerosis and was always in a wheelchair, and was very hard to understand. So here she was just standing there talking. And I said to my Grandfather "Wow! Grandma is just standing there talking..." and he was like "No she's not, she died a few years ago." And then she was gone. And so we visited with my Grandpa, and he wanted to play monopoly, and the last thing I remember was trying to decide where to set it up.
He looked great, nice and healthy... I have no idea what we talked about, I just know that we did.
Such an odd dream... I wonder what it means??

Just another day...

Well poor Colby is home sick today. He was burning up all night and this morning his temp was 100.9. He has been laying on the couch or the bed all day (reminds me of me last week!) and he just wants to snuggle. I really hope I don't get sick- I don't need that at all! Why is it that when it seems like things are getting better, something like this happens??
Girl Scout Cookies are in. And since I am the Cookie Mom, all of my troop's cookies are now in my living room! Thank goodness they didn't sell too many this year! It's nice to get the money, but it's not so fun when you have to do all of this sorting! Not to mention, if you know anything about the local Girl Scouts this year, you know that cookies are a big headache... and not only do I have to sort for Sam and the rest of the troop, I also need to figure out what to do with the surplus.
Speaking of Scouts...our troop did the International Fair yesterday. Samantha got to carry the flag in the flag ceremony! Thank goodness Heather got some pictures for me. Unfortunately, I wasn't feeling well and had to leave before the fair even began.
Oh my, this puppy is whining so loudly in my ear. She was just outside for about 30 minutes, and barked for 10 minutes to come in. So why does she want to go out again? She drives me crazy sometimes!!
Thank goodness Baby is giving me a rest today... I was actually able to do 2 loads of laundry and eat a decent lunch! Wow! Of course, in the back of my head I'm just wondering when it's all going to turn sour on me.
